In 1964, I entered the seminary of the Congregation of St. Paul (Paulist Fathers), a group of Catholic priests in the United States. My education consisted of two years in the minor seminary (St. Peter's, Baltimore, Maryland), one year in the novitiate (St. Mary's, Oak Ridge, New Jersey), and two years in the major seminary (St. Paul's, Catholic University, Washington, D.C.), for a total of five years. At the conclusion of my studies, I was awarded the Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy.

English: Composition, Creative Writing, Literature, Literary Criticism, Aesthetics, Public Speaking;
Foreign Languages: Latin, French, Greek;
History: European, American Intellectual History, History of Philosophy
Science: Biology, Political Science;
Religion: Catholic Doctrine, Spiritual Practice (one-year novitiate/monastery).
